man breaking potmen workingPlanes de la Mora is far up in the mountains. It was so exciting to see their water project finished! We met with the village in April of 2009 and they finished phase one of the project in October. We got a chance to walk to the source of the project, which was absolutely breathtaking.

The inaguration was at the soccer field. In honor of the Honduran national soccer team qualifying for the World Cup in 2010 the spicket was shaped like a soccer ball. The village had a four team soccer tournament at the inaguration as part of the festivities.

water spicketIt is hard to imagine the type of terrain that this project goes up,over and under. There are waterfalls, steep hills and slippery trails. Hiking it men workingis a real challenge, so actually trenching and burying the pipes is an incredible undertaking by the village.

Phase two of the project will be to bring pilas to the 50 families that live below the water tank. We have committed to fund these pilas so that families will have their own private access to the water. Having a pila opens up a whole new world of health, cleanliness, comfort and happiness.

Thanks to all of our Amigos that are making this possible!
